In-person instruction at our Regina facility. Small cohort sizes ensure individualized attention from working DJ instructors.

Outcome

Graduates leave with a recorded mix, a professional brand kit, and the skills to book and perform paid gigs independently.

Introduction to DJing

History of DJ culture, equipment overview, software setup, and understanding the role of a DJ in live music.

Beatmatching & Tempo Control

Manual beatmatching by ear, BPM analysis, tempo faders, and sync vs. manual techniques.

EQ & Frequency Management

Three-band and four-band EQ techniques, frequency isolation, clean transitions, and avoiding frequency clashes.

  • Prevent muddy mixes through gain staging

Music Theory for DJs

Key detection, harmonic mixing using the Camelot wheel, song structure analysis, and energy management.

Music Curation & Library Management

Building and organizing a music library, tagging systems, crate digging, sourcing legal music, and genre knowledge.

Advanced Transitions & Effects

Creative transitions, loops, hot cues, effects chains (reverb, delay, filter), and building tension.

Crowd Reading & Live Performance

Reading a room, adapting in real-time, request handling, stage presence, microphone technique, and managing energy.

Software & Digital Tools

Deep dives into Serato DJ Pro, rekordbox, Traktor, and Ableton Live. MIDI mapping, controller configuration, and digital workflows.

  • Integrate software with hardware setups

Sound Systems & Gear

PA systems, speaker placement, signal flow, cables, DJ booth setup, troubleshooting, and gear maintenance.

Branding & Online Presence

DJ name selection, logo design basics, social media strategy, Mixcloud/SoundCloud presence, EPK creation, and content planning.
